The Business Analyst plays a key role in the delivery of successful custom business and software solutions. This individual encourages thought and collaboration from team members to expand ideas regarding successful delivery, and to provide the most value to our clients. He is responsible for assisting the client and project team to deliver solutions that meet or exceed user expectations and are aligned with business processes and strategies. Additionally, he must be able to utilise applicable tools, processes and concepts on multiple, end-to-end projects.

  • Work with business users to define and re-design business processes and identify corresponding solution requirements, while establishing appropriate expectations and controlling scope.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and priorities effectively.
  • Participate in the full SDLC, depending on the scope of the initiative, including post- implementation activities.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and provide innovative solutions
  • Actively seek ways to apply technologies to business processes to meet strategic goals through a conceptual understanding of technology and strong business insight and experience.
  • Define user requirements, create user cases, and document user requirements specifications by performing user interviews, JAD sessions and industry research.
  • Define user acceptance test cases and manage the users through the process.
  • Document presentations, approach documents, and functional specifications.
  • Work with the creative, business and technology teams to help design solutions and create storyboards.
  • Actively participate in issue resolution and escalation.
  • Create documents, presentations, and training material that can be used to establish buy-in and launch the solution successfully.
  • Assist with the creation of a solution’s information architecture and navigational structure.
  • Conduct and participate in usability and application reviews with users.
  • Actively participate in the growth of the organisation through involvement in improvement efforts, product development and organisational infrastructure enhancements.
  • Responsible for understanding workload priorities and managing tasks.
  • Implement methodologies, standards and processes on all projects to ensure consistent quality.
  • Facilitate the rollout of processes and other training within IT and business operations.
  • Liaise with vendors with regards to prototypesCore competencies
    • BCom Informatics or BSc Information Systems.
    • At least 5 years of experience in a similar.
    • Strong business insight and experience, with 3 years in the financial services industry particularly within an Online Trading or Wealth Management environment.
    • Proven Experience in full SDLC.
    • Proven experience in leading analysis initiatives and conducting creative requirements gathering.
    • Strong process experience and understanding of business analysis methodologies.
    • Proven experience in writing approach and vision documents that clearly set client expectations.
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including technical and report writing.
    • Experience defining test cases as well as defining functional specifications.
    • Excellent time management skills with ability to multi-task and work independently, without close supervision.
    • Creative problem-solving skills along with the ability to apply technology to business issues, build solid relationships, and effectively resolve conflict.

Sandton: Swift / Realtime Settlements Business System Analyst

 Sandton based Client in banking industry is looking for a Business / Systems Analyst with a strong logical ability, a systematic thinking approach, and a high attention to detail, that can translate client requirements into software solutions.

This person will work on software projects and pick up on many of the aspects of software delivery that are not specifically programming; such as (but not limited to) analysis, project monitoring, reporting to clients and management on progress, checking for completeness and accuracy, training and documentation.

The person we are looking for will want to work in a fast paced, high energy environment.

They should be a person who not only wants to do what is asked, but who constantly seeks

to improve the process that is followed to deliver a higher quality product more efficiently.

Importantly, this should be a person who cares about all the people involved, both our team members and our clients.

The right person would be seeking to work with intelligent, motivated, self driven team players with low egos, good communication skills and an effective problem solving approach.

Duties, Responsibilities and

Accountabilities (and time split)

Responsibilities Include:

Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems.

Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade systems.

�Analyze and evaluate present or proposed business procedures or problems to

define data processing needs.

� Prepare detailed flow charts and diagrams outlining systems capabilities and


� Research and recommend hardware and software development, purchase, and


� Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems,

including user access and component configuration.

� Select among authorized procedures and seek assistance when guidelines are

inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems


� Record and maintain hardware and software inventories, site and/or server

licensing, and user access and security.

� Work as a team member with other technical staff, such as networking to ensure

connectivity and compatibility between systems.

Write and maintain system documentation.

Essential Skills required:

� Experience in implementing payment solutions and managing business change


� Experience with SWIFT / SWIFT related systems and SWIFT messaging

� Experience with Real Time Settlement Systems (RTGS)

� Experience with Anti-Money Laundering and SWIFT Confirmation Matching


� Communicating and maintaining relationships with support vendors and the

Reserve Bank.

� Co-ordination and alignment of projects with other divisions of the bank

� Developing production support procedures, training and handover to the

Production Support team.

� Documenting, developing and executing of the tests cases and then training the

Testing Team and handover.

� User Training and 2nd level Production Support.
