Job Purpose:

•Responsible for writing, testing and documenting of programs in ANSI C and Embedded SQL.

•Responsible for writing Technical Specifications for other developers and reviewing their code.

Job Objectives:

•Writing and testing programs as per requirements

Experience and Education:

•Grade 12 (Essential)
•Relevant technical or business qualification – diploma/degree (Desirable)
•Minimum 4 years ANSI C programming experience (Essential)
•Minimum 2 years SQL experience (Essential)
•Minimum 4 years system analysis and design experience
•Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle
•Unix / Linux experience (Highly Desirable)
•C Programming Certification (Desirable)

Johannesburg : COBOL / ORACLE Systems Analyst (Banking Industry), salary negotiable


  • To Analyse, design, develop, implement and maintain batch processes on payment
    and settlement systems.
  • Produce support and operational documentation for new and current product
  • To analyse business requirements/specifications and prepare functional and
    technical specifications which will be utilised by programmers to create and
    maintain systems.


  • At least 5 years IT Experience in analysis, design, programming and problem
    solving within an ORACLE/COBOL/Unix environment
  • Exposure to the banking or financial industry would be advantageous Analyse
    user’s business requirements in detail and, where appropriate, compile and
    document functional specification for a proposed new or changed system
  • Compile and document system design
  • Prepare detailed flow charts and diagrams outlining system’s capabilities and
  • Assist/guide prospective users of new/changed systems in qualifying the benefits
    of having such solutions (or the penalties of not having it) and assessing the
    impact of the system on their business
  • Assist the sponsoring users in analysing costs, benefits, risks and return of
    investment of the proposed new system, understanding the exact nature of the
    proposed system; deciding whether to proceed with the implementation
  • Design and develop user manuals and corresponding training programs for a system
    under development
  • Ensure stakeholders know the impact of their decisions and provide them with
    options and alternatives here necessary
  • Document system problems and resolutions for future reference
  • Assist the business analysts, developers and team leaders in resolving design
  • Assisting the project manager by managing client expectations and any
    requirements and changes
